Statement of Faith of Our Church

Concerning the Holy Scriptures

We believe that the Bible (Old and New Testaments), consisting of 66 books, is the divinely inspired and immutable Word of God. "Sola Scriptura " (Scripture Alone) is our sole and sovereign authority for faith, life, and church order. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)

Concerning the Trinity

We believe in one God, known through His eternal, infinite nature and as the Creator of all. This one God is revealed in three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), who are co-equal and co-eternal in nature, existence, and authority. While God is Triune, the three persons exist in unity (Coinherence) without confusion or division. We believe this divine mystery is the way God reveals Himself to believers and makes them partakers of His life. (Matt. 28:19-20)

Concerning the Lord Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God by nature, fully God and fully man. We believe He was born of the Virgin Mary through the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit; died on the cross for our sins; was buried; descended into Hades (the place of the dead) and conquered the power of death; and rose bodily on the third day. We believe He ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, intercedes for us today, and will return in great glory. (Col. 1:19-20)

Concerning the Holy Spirit

Just as the Lord Jesus Christ came forth from the Father (John 8:42, 16:28), the Holy Spirit also proceeds from the Father (John 15:26) and is the third person of the Trinity with His own distinct agency. We believe the Holy Spirit is God, to be worshiped and glorified with the Father and the Son. He is a personal Spirit who sanctifies, guides, and comforts believers, and convicts the world of sin. (John 15:26, 16:12-14)

Concerning the Fall and Human Sinfulness

We believe that although man was created in the image and likeness of God, he fell through transgression, and as a result, sin entered the entire human race. Consequently, all humans are sinful by nature, are fallen short of the glory of God, and cannot escape the judgment of death and sin through their own efforts. Salvation is obtained only by grace (Sola Gratia) through faith in Christ Jesus. When a person repents and accepts the Lord, they are born again and receive the authority to be children of God. (Eph. 2:8, John 1:12-13)

The Fullness and Gifts of the Holy Spirit

We believe that a person saved by faith in Jesus Christ is sealed and filled with the Holy Spirit and receives the gifts of the Spirit (Eph. 1:13, Acts 2:4, 1 Cor. 12:7-11). We believe the Holy Spirit has a dual aspect of filling in a believer’s life

  • Inward Filling

For the believer’s spiritual growth and sanctification.

  • Outward Filling

Clothing the believer with spiritual power for service and gospel witness. We believe the various spiritual gifts given for the edification of the Church are still active today. (1 Cor. 12:7-11)

Concerning the Church

The Church is the assembly of believers redeemed by the blood of Christ, and Christ Himself is its foundation (Matt. 16:18). We believe it is the Body of Christ and the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. All believers are one in spirit and must practically manifest this universal unity through the life of the local church. (Matt. 16:18, Eph. 2:18, 4:4)

Church Ordinances

While the church performs various rites, the following three are commanded and established by the Lord Jesus Christ

  • Water Baptism

A mandate given to the Church before His ascension, performed in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matt. 28:19-20)

  • The Lord’s Supper

Established by Christ’s command as a divine ordinance to remember His death and resurrection. Believers must partake after self-examination. (Luke 22:14-20, 1 Cor. 11:23-34)

  • Holy Matrimony

Christian marriage is an institution established by God (Gen. 2:21-25). It is conducted only between a man and a woman of opposite biological sexes. Since God joins them, no man shall separate them. (Mark 10:6-9)

Concerning the End Times

We believe in the physical resurrection and the rapture of believers. Following the rapture, believers will stand before the Bema Seat of Christ to receive rewards according to their works. We believe Jesus Christ will return to earth with His saints to establish the Millennial Kingdom, followed by the resurrection of all the dead and the final Great White Throne Judgment, where the righteous are separated for eternal life and sinners for eternal punishment. (Matt. 24, Mark 13)
